In the Bay Area, CA spring is in full bloom, and that means we are ditching dense layers, coats, cashmere sweaters, and boots. As we rummage through our closets, we crave something fresh, colorful, and exciting to match fresh greenery and bright flowers that we see outside.
As I placed winter dresses, jackets, and sweaters away into my children's closet, I was getting excited about spring/summer possibilities. I could not wait to get my hands on a new pair of white jeans, maybe a colorful skirt or top, perhaps a summer dress (not that I do not have more than enough). The list goes on and on.
The other day I was lucky enough to have a few hours to myself, and obviously, I headed into my local mall. Since I only had a few hours, I had to be efficient and quick. I narrowed down my shopping list to five stores and quickly marched down an alley. Most stores were decorated with fresh drops featuring bright colors, light materials, and fresh designs. So much temptation!
As I was passing by, I could not help but notice a few trends. Stores' color pallets were dominated by blues, whites, beiges, greens, and yellows. I also saw plenty of flower prints in different sizes and colors. As I went to my selected stores, I noticed new trends like summer jumpsuits, culottes, joggers, and wrap dresses.
My favorite looks included cashmere cropped cardigans, flowery print dresses, as well as cropped straight pants. I was not a fan of jumpsuits, mostly because I think they are impractical. Also, I have never liked culottes - the shape seems all wrong.
Even though we are heading towards summer, we still need to plan for chilly spring mornings and nights. Thus, layering becomes an essential part of the spring wardrobe. Smart layering solutions are various length cardigans, sweaters, and blazers. Many brands offer lighter colorful jackets to brighten up one's closet. As well as a stylish option of a sweater cardigan worn over a silk tank-top.
At the end of my shopping trip, I ended up with the wide brim summer hat, white cropped jeans, and fitted sleeveless top. There are a few more things that I want to add to my summer wardrobe like a relaxed fit straight pant or polished jogger, colorful summer blazer with a bold pattern. Of course, it would never hurt to get a few pairs of sandals and sneakers.
Overall, spring clothing drops cheered me up with bold patterns, lighter materials, pastel colors, and many neutrals. Storefronts feature playful tops, dresses, and skirts accessorized with summer hats, light scarfs, and woven handbags tempting onlookers to walk in.
