effective face care tips (for busy moms)

Have you ever looked at someone and mentally noted how tired he/she is, how his/her face is pale and tired, how his/her eyes have dark circles? Did you want to engage with that person? Did you feel like he/she would be receptive to your interaction efforts? Most likely, if you could, you tried to leave that person alone trying not to add more stress to his/her life.


Our faces are the first things everyone sees and makes assumptions about our lives and state of mind. There is nothing wrong with being tired, but at the same time, you do not want to miss out on the opportunity to chat with your boss, meet a new client, make new friends or make a good impression. (I know sometimes we have no control over things in our lives. I am not arguing for looking perfect every day. I want to help anyone who needs a few pointers to improve their skin.)


The simplest solution to improve one's skin appearance is more sleep. I know most of you think: what is she saying? I have no time for sleep! Trust me; I get it. I have two little monsters, and the younger one just turned one. Hallelujah!!! She sleeps through the night most of the nights. But even though she sleeps, I still have lots of things to do including cleaning the house, cooking, taking time for myself, working or blogging. So this option goes out of the door.


Although I don't have a miracle solution, I have solid tips listed below that will improve your skin appearance.


I know we all hear it all the time - drink water. But this is very important. Our bodies need water. An adult consists of 60% water. Without water, the skin goes dry, flaky and wrinkly. Our skin cells need water to perform their best to maintain elasticity and radiance. Sadly, all the water we drink reaches our skin last, so drink up to make sure there is plenty of water to go around. Additionally, apply water to your skin directly and immediately follow up with a face moisturizer.


The second tip - use a good moisturizer. About ten years ago, I was introduced to the unknown to me skincare line - 302 Professional SkinCare (http://www.302skincare.com). I reluctantly decided to give it a try. This decision was the best one I made that day. Ten years later, I still use it and love it. My skin looks great even when I am sleep deprived and tired. My skin stays elastic, radiant, even toned with no dark circles around my eyes. Right now, I am using 302 Clinical Formula Dry/ Sensitive Moisturizer. It goes on smoothly and does not have a heavy feel.


The third tip - limit dairy in your diet. I know, for cheese lovers, it is hard to stop cold turkey but try to limit the intake. Better yet, test the theory out. Stop all dairy for a month and see if your skin's appearance improves. I decreased diary in my diet and saw a huge difference.


The fourth tip - use sunblock. I live in Northern CA, and it is sunny here most of the days. I used to hate sunscreen because it makes my face look greasy and feel weighted down. It is very light and applies evenly without a shine. It is also small enough to be placed in a purse. So many time, I feel rushed getting out of the house and forget to apply sunscreen on my children or myself. I am delighted when I realize that I have a backup in my purse.

The fifth tip - wash your face twice a day with an appropriate cleanser. I know it is hard to find a suitable cleanser. I have been using 302 Acne Cleanser and 302 Face/Body Bar for many years. I use my cleanser at night and the soap bar in the morning. Give it a try! It might not solve all of your problems, but I guarantee you will see improvements if you use both consistently. Also, wash your face with lukewarm water.

I religiously follow all the tips I list above and my skin looks amazing. Do not forget that diet plays a big role as well. Try to eat as healthy as you can avoiding alcohol, excess dairy, and sugary drinks.
