This week I thought we could talk about a brand that offers exciting everyday classics, versatile essentials, and unique pieces - I, of course, want to chat about the Madewell brand. The brand offers a wide range of materials, cuts, and designs and focuses on eco-friendly, sustainable practices. While I think it targets the younger generation, it carries versatile classics that have no age restriction.
If you have never shopped at Madewell before, I am happy to share my thoughts about the brand and introduce you to it. If you are a Madewell fan, do not forget to leave a comment on why you like the brand (or do not like it).
I had shopped with Madewell in person and online. Both experiences were pleasant: helpful staff, quick check-out, speedy shipping, and easy returns.
The two stores that I visit offer a convenient floor layout. It is easy to see all items, yet I am not overwhelmed. The stores follow a similar format; the front of the store has more exciting seasonal options. The middle of the store showcases jeans, shirts, and t-shirts. The last section in the back contains sales items, shoes, and bags.
The online store has significantly more choices than a physical location. But I feel like the physical store focuses on seasonal items better than an online store.
When it comes to sizes, I think most Madewell pieces run large. I am size six or small, but with Madewell items, I size down to x-small, especially for oversized styles.
Last spring, I bought one pair of jeans: Balloon Jeans. I love their relaxed fit and balloon shape. They pair nicely with fitted tops and blazers.
I was worried that after I washed them, they would lose their shape or shrink. But no. They held up very well. They have become my go-to jeans when I do not have time to think about what to wear.
I also have a midi denim skirt that I adore: Stretch Denim Slit Straight Midi Skirt. It is a great transitional piece that can be styled with a summer top or an autumn sweater. It is so versatile that I can style it with anything for almost any occasion except for a black-tie event.
As I was preparing to write this post, I looked into my wardrobe and realized that I have three Larsen Blazers. (I thought I had two).
I have one for summer in light cream color. I love wearing it over tops, blouses, and dresses. The blazer has a perfect relaxed cut with a great fit in shoulders. It is lined, and all stitching is done expertly.
I also have two fall blazers with a check pattern. I like to style these two blazers with fall pieces because they feature great brown, beige, and pinkish colors. I can easily find something in my closet to match these colors.
Styling Tip: If you have an item with a pattern and are unsure how to style a coherent look, select one color in the design and then find the same or similar colored piece in your wardrobe. Follow the process one more time if you need to find another piece for the outfit.
How I Style My Madewell
Fall Items That Caught My Eye
The brand does a great job of curating seasonal items, and if you are in the mood for fall shopping, I would suggest the following items:
Brookhaven Midi Sweater Skirt for a cozy fall feel. It is made with 55%wool and 45% cotton - a great combination without any synthetic materials.
Averdon Coat in Bouclé Fabric for a stylish outfit. It is made with recycled materials, wool, and mohair. I like it because it is an exciting color for fall that is not brown or grey.
Cameron Ribbed Cardigan Sweater in Coziest Yarn is a great fall staple. It is made with polyamide, wool, alpaca, and elastane.
Overall I find Madewell an excellent brand for everyday classics that could last many seasons, especially blazers and coats. Many of the brand's pieces feature recycled and natural materials. Madewell is also trying to employ environmentally conscious practices, and it is a massive plus in my book.
I hope you found this post insightful. Please like and comment! I would love to hear what you think!
